The Champtires Advantage

At any given time, Champtires has more than 30,000 tires in stock. Every tire that enters the warehouse is inspected and air tested.

Replacing Tires: If you get a flat tire or need to change any number of your tires, Champtires’ huge inventory means that you’ll be able to find the size, tread depth and even brand to match your remaining tires.

  • It’s important to note that if you’re replacing one tire, its tread level should match its counterpart. So front tire tread depths should match and back tire tread depths should be the same. Front and back tires should always be within 2/32 of each other.
  • If someone tells you that you can’t only replace one tire (or two) and insists that you need to buy two (or a whole set), be sure to question them as to exactly why…tread depths matching is what matters.

How To Find Your Tire Size and Determine Tire Tread Depth

Why Buy Used Tires?

While Champtires does sell new tires, high quality used tires are our specialty. Buying used tires is:

  • Safe. When bought from a reputable tire shop, like Champtires. We’ve been in business since 2009, and every tire that enters our warehouse is inspected and air tested.
  • Environmentally friendly. Instead of the used tires ending up in a landfill, you will be reusing a premium, recycled product.
  • Much more affordable. Even if you just need to replace one tire, the cost of rubber has increased dramatically recently and has caused the price of brand new tires to skyrocket. We also offer a 14-day satisfaction guarantee. Check Champtires’ prices for yourself.

How To Find Your Tire Size and Determine Tire Tread Depth

Find Tire Size

Tire Size

Tire sizes are a series of numbers that refer to the tire’s width, aspect ratio and rim size. They are typically found in two places:

  1. On the tire’s sidewall. (See above image for an example)
  2. On a sticker on the inside of the driver’s car door.

You can also search Champtires’ website to find out what tire size(s) fits your vehicle.

Tread Depth

In the U.S., the accepted measurement for tire tread levels are in 32nds of an inch. Tire tread gauges are used to obtained specific measurements. Most passenger tires start out with a tread level of 10/32. States, like Pennsylvania, that have vehicle safety inspections require tires to have certain tread depths to pass. Typically, tire tread above 2/32 of an inch is considered to be adequate. However, some tests have shown that 4/32 is a much safer guideline to follow.

Learn how to use a tire tread gauge.

When tires are worn or nearly bald, the penny test is useful.

Champtires has more than 30,000 premium used tires in stock, and our prices are so low that you’ll save up to 80 percent off the cost of new tires. Every tire that enters our warehouse is inspected and tested, and we offer a 14-day satisfaction guarantee.

Are Your Tires Ready for Snow and Ice?

5

Are your tires ready for snow and ice? Here are a few essential tips, including how to save up to 80 percent off the price of new tires:

Having the correct tire pressure is essential for proper handling. A temperature change of just 10 degrees can cause a ten percent reduction, or constriction, of air in tires. So tire pressure can be affected from day to night temperature – not to mention when temperatures drop severely.

Check the optimal tire pressure of your vehicle on the label inside the driver’s door frame or in the owner’s manual. And whatever you do, don’t ignore the tire pressure monitoring light.

Worn tires—especially bald ones—can be deadly on wet or snow-covered roads, where the grooves aren’t deep enough to channel water or snow out from beneath the tread and affects control of the steering wheel. Wet-weather braking and snow traction also decrease as tires wear. Learn more about the dangers of driving with worn tires.

ConsumerReports.org has said about tire tread levels that, “Unfortunately, 2/32 of an inch may be too late if you drive in rain or snow. Based on our tests of new and half-tread-depth tires, you may want to consider shopping for new ones on your car or truck closer to the 4/32-inch groove depth.”

Learn how to determine your tires’ tread depth.

How To Save Money on Tires

If your tires aren’t keeping pressure or have low tread, do not let the high cost of new tires scare you from fixing the problem. Champtires has more than 30,000 premium used tires in stock, and our prices are so low that you’ll save up to 80 percent off the cost of new tires. Every tire that enters our warehouse is inspected and tested, and we offer a 14-day satisfaction guarantee. We also sell new tires at the lowest prices.

What a “Wintry Mix” Means For Your Tires

A “wintry mix” is a mix of rain, snow and ice. What does it mean for your tires?

Check the optimal tire pressure of your vehicle on the label inside the driver’s door frame or in the owner’s manual.
